Multimedia Case Study > Tip the Balance on Waste
"Tip the Balance - on Waste" is a waste reduction programme designed by Hot PJ for senior primary students within Canterbury.
Developed by Environment Canterbury on behalf of the Canterbury Joint Waste Committee, "Tip the Balance" is designed to challenge students to rethink the choices they make when it comes to choosing their school lunch, with the aim of reducing waste.
Students embark on a proactive journey:
- travelling back through the life cycle of an aluminium can - a very long life!
- making choices about what food and drink to have in their lunch box
- finding out how 'wastewise' these lunch choices are
- comparing their choices with a group of virtual friends and seeing who ends up with the best 'wastewise' score.
The interactive resource is supported with a Student Workbook and a Facilitator's Guide.
