The main goal of this project for Mount Cook Airline was to design the tools for a recognition and reward programme that would build awareness and educate staff about the company's core values.
 The solution needed to reflect the company's values, unique culture and history - distinct from its parent company, Air New Zealand.
Hot PJ presented two different initial concepts; one conservative and traditional, that reflected the company’s strong history, the other more humorous and totally new, with no reference to history but reflective of the company’s desire to be seen as innovative and energetic. The success of the programme rested on the ‘buy in’ from all staff, not just the management team, so this gave them the opportunity to present both concepts to their staff for their feedback.
 The selected concept, called the ‘R&R Award’, incorporated a folder in the style of a suitcase decorated with luggage stickers, each representing a guiding principle. The folder carries instructions on how to use the kit, and contains nomination forms and a booklet about the guiding principles.
An entry box and posters in prominent places reminded and encourage staff to use the programme to reward their colleagues.
