Multimedia Case Studies > Beat the Rush
Client:
Environment Canterbury
Project Name:
'Beat the Rush' Multimedia Educational Tool
Key Strategic Goals:
- To positively influence the attitude of intermediate-age school pupils towards public transport.
- Provide an enduring teaching resource that will interest, educate and motivate school pupils within the Canterbury region to use public transport.
- To provide a resource that improves the standing of ECan educators with schools. Previous resources had proved unreliable cross platform, impacting on the programme’s credibility.
Solution:
- Involve key audience members in the initial discussion and project development stages.
- Script, design and develop an interactive presentation with supporting hard copy workbooks and teaching resources.
- Research and extensively test a solution that will enable the presentation to be accessed successfully on Macs and PCs at different locations, including the integration of 'auto starts' to provide a complete 'plug and play' solution.
Outcome
This resource has been very well received by schools because of its entertainment level, learning experience and reliability. Our reports show there is a backlog of bookings, and several repeat runs have been ordered. Educators in other parts of New Zealand have also shown a keen interest in the resource.
